I see many reading signs in modern times and laying claim to know this is the end of the world. Maybe they’re right. Maybe not.

Perhaps the emphasis Jesus puts on “the better part” is because giving the visitor (be it a friend or a stranger) our undivided attention is a selfless act of giving oneself to another.
Jesus enjoins us to show mercy to those needing mercy, kindness to those needing kindness, forgiveness to those needing to be forgiven, even our enemies.
When you see this, your heart shall rejoice and your bodies flourish like the grass; the LORD’s power shall be known to his servants.
Will we stand still, bound by our life, or will we move with Christ to unchained joy and everlasting love?
In taking, we received death through sin. In receiving, we receive life through Christ.
