Monday Psalms, Psalm 13 (12)

Consider and answer my plea, O Lord my God, lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death. I have trusted in Your merciful love; my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.

In a scan of a damaged retina, dark discoloration reveals where the light cannot reach. This is where physical blindness is seen. Even so, God’s light is not physically bound. We plea to our Creator, in whom we have been perfectly made, to overcome our spiritual blindness with faith in His mercy. Together we rejoice in what we see through faith–God’s holiness and saving power.
