The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked. For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold His face.
In her private letters published after her death, St. Teresa of Calcutta’s correspondence revealed years of darkness, causing her great anguish. Yet this darkness strengthened her yearning for the Lord. “I have come to love the darkness–or I believe now that it is a part, a very, very small part of Jesus’ darkness and pain on earth.” (Mother Teresa: Come be My Light, Brian Kolodiejchuk) Mother Teresa endured her suffering, her testing, with an ever increasing faith and joy. We, too, are called to do the same.
