Matthew 17:1-9
“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.” Matthew 17:8
After Jesus is transfigured and spoke with Moses and Elijah, God enters the scene in a bright white cloud. Then He doubles down on the words He spoke when Jesus arose from the waters of his baptism. God affirms again that Jesus is His Son and that His Son’s obedience and humility are pleasing to Him. Then He hands Christ the keys, deferring to the authority He alone can offer to Christ. “Listen to him!” To Jesus, God said, “I love ya kid. Here are the keys and title to the car. Drive it!” To me, God says, “this is the One, My living Word. Pay attention, listen, obey.”
Lord Jesus, may I ever hear your voice and keep your Word in my heart. I will listen and obey! Amen
