Dichotomy

I sing Your praises
But grieve over what’s done in Your name

I long for Your goodness
But shiver at the world’s ubiquitous evil

I ache for Your love
But am heartbroken by sin

I endure in the hope of Your treasure
But am smitten with earthly jewels

I want to live forever with You
But hold steadfast to what is fleeting

The stain of concupiscence
Underscores the dichotomy of life

Forgive me Father
I do what I do not know
