Finding Rest

The work is hard
So many need so much
I am weary, worn, weak

The Word is Truth
His name is Holy
But the work continues

If only for a moment
Come away with me
Let’s find a quiet place to rest

Rest to find strength
The road ahead difficult
Is a moment enough?

Strength in him
So to continue forward
Until I find rest

  1. Be still and see that I am God. – Psalm 46:10
Being at peace results from seeing or knowing God, but we must be still or at rest from our labours and daily cares to commune with God and enjoy His peace.

    1. So true. Finding those still moments is difficult when everything is moving all around you. I find i must be intentional to find those still moments to commune with God — to ensure I am on the path he wants me to be on and not the one I think I should be on.

    1. Yes! But I need to be still long enough to sense peace. Busyness is the work of Satan, crowding out time for prayer, for peace, for contemplation. The poem itself was inspired by Mark 6:31 … “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
