Three-in-One
“It is finished”
His life’s last words
A life that’s lost
Shoot of the stump
The hope of Jesse
Hangs on the tree
Promised savior
Said Isaiah
Messiah he
Came to save us
Give us Glory
Restore Nations
Sing Hosanna
Hosts of Angels
Herald his birth
Dismissed servant
Contradicted
Sword through your soul
Anna foretold
Redemptive time
So all who’d see
With eyes that see
All who’d listen
Incarnate Word
But Peace on Earth
Ruin foretold
Wish it burning
Temple destroyed
No brick unturned
Son nor father
But Victory
From the finish
Death is conquered
By death foretold
The sins of man
Pierced Messiah
I’m sure of this
“It is finished”
Only in us
A love’s story
Written as lived
Only for us
Jesus’ love story plays out in his “7 words” from the cross:
- Luke 23:34: Forgiveness
- Luke 23:43: Salvation
- John 19:26–27: Relationship
- Matthew 27:46 & Mark 15:34: Abandonment
- John 19:28: Distress
- John 19:30: Triumph
- Luke 23:46: Reunion
Lord Jesus Christ, how can I offer adequate thanks and praise for how you have suffered for my love? You continued to teach even while nailed to the cross. You begged your Father for forgiveness for my sins. I also ask for your forgiveness. All glory and honor are yours, through the grace and mercy of God the Father and in unity with the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
